To improve the lives of, and learn from, people in marginalized communities.

Modified Maslow

Belief:

We have always known that hungry people should be able to eat and people without a place to stay should be able to sleep in a safe place. Yet, now we realize how important it is to deliver services in a manner that provides people with dignity. The poor in society are marginalized. I intend to treat them with the dignity that all people should receive. The manner in which we deliver services may be more important than the services themselves. It is more natural to have some needs that are unmet, at any given time, than it is to have all areas of need in our life met even minimally. People do not always have the five areas of need;

  • physiological,

  • safety,

  • sense of belonging,

  • esteem

  • self-actualization

met. The lack in one area of need does not stop people from functioning well in other areas of need.
